JACK TAYLOR
ASSOCIATE WRITER
What do you do?
I am a writer!
What do you like about theatre?
There’s something primordial and ancient about theatre that makes it hard to resist. I like its freedom and sense of play, and how it can change the way we think.
What is your favourite moment working with StrikeUp so far?
Our R&D week during which we developed Don’t Let Go - a play responding to lockdown about isolation, loneliness and ennui. A very cathartic experience!
Which show/artist/moment has influenced your work?
I saw the original production of Jerusalem by Jez Butterworth, with Mark Rylance, when I was about 17. It reminds me that, above all, theatre should never be boring.
If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be and why?
Donald Trump - for a laugh.
